20 of the Most Stunning Deals in World Football History

Six years ago on July 6, the Bernabeu was full to capacity for the unveiling of the one and only Cristiano Ronaldo as a Real Madrid player.
The Portuguese superstar had completed a then-world-record £80 million move from Manchester United, with his adoring public welcoming him to the club for whom he's now scored a scarcely believable 313 goals in 300 games.
The magnitude of the huge move still resonates today, but as this list shows, there have been plenty more stunning transfers down the years.

Without wishing to disrespect football in Turkey, there are generally two reasons why players from the big European leagues tend to head east.

named to the 2015 Copa América team of the tournament by CONMEBOL, the governing body of South American football which organises the event. Herrera posts first picture of Reds back in training

Manchester United’s players have started to return to the Aon Training Complex this week as pre-season preparations get under way, and Ander Herrera has posted the first picture of the Reds back in Manchester following the summer break.

These first few days back are a chance to renew acquaintances almost six weeks after the 2014/15 campaign came to a close. But the hard work starts soon as the Reds gear up for pre-season training, Tour 2015, presented by Aon, and the season’s big kick-off against Tottenham Hotspur on 8 August, confirmed today (Friday) as Saturday’s lunchtime curtain-raiser on the opening weekend of the season.
Ander’s selfie featured plenty of happy faces as he was joined by good friends Juan Mata, Antonio Valencia and Adnan Januzaj in the image posted on Instagram. Ander’s post reads: "Again together, looking forward to start the new season."
Valencia, who missed this summer's Copa America tournament after undergoing an operation to remove metalwork from an old injury in his leg, shared the picture with the comment: "[A] day of training with mates. Thank God, strength and heart."
Mata also posted the pic, adding: "Back in Manchester. Can’t wait for next season." And Januzaj commented: "Good to be back!"
